Appliance Fires, Interstate Accident: Maple Grove Fire Blotter

The Maple Grove Fire Department also responded to an incident involving an overheated deep fat fryer.

The following incidents were responded to by the Maple Grove Fire Department from May 27 to June 1, 2013. Details and incident descriptions provided by the Maple Grove Fire Department.

May 27

  • 8300 block of Rice Lake Road. Building fire.

  • 15100 91st Ave N Building fire. Small fire in control panel of dishwater.  Homeowner noticed it make noise, then sparking and small flame.  MGPD shut off circuit breaker.

  • 8962 Vinewood Lane North. Building fire.

June 1

  • Northbound Highway 169 at I-694 Assist police or other governmental agency. Dispatched to traffic accident on freeway involving a motorcycle and truck.  Assisted with wash down of scene.
  • 18000 block of 88th Place North. Arcing, shorted electrical equipment. Homeowner left deep fat fryer on in the garage. It overheated and burned ceiling of garage.   Wires in garage ceiling were damaged by the heat and tripped circuit breakers.  Used TIC to look for heat and check for possible fire. Nothing found. Homeowner advised to call an electrician to make repairs.
  • 9200 block of Zanzibar Lane North. Building fire. Electric clothes dryer was on fire.  Put out using fire extinguisher before fire department arrived.  Pulled dryer away from wall to check for extension.

There were also seven false/malfunctioning alarms.
