Parish Secretary, Active Church Member Dies at 86

Katherine Alexandria Steele, 86, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, passed away Monday September 30, 2013 at North Memorial Hospital after a serious fall in her home on Wednesday.

Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in Henryetta, Oklahoma on Thursday, October 3 from 12:00 to 6:00pm and a wake that evening at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Henryetta, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery. Rogers Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Katherine was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Pete and Alexandria Yarmoski on November 1, 1926. She attended St. Michael’s Catholic School. After graduation in 1944, Katherine worked in the front office at PPG Industries for 15 years. She married Bob in June of 1955 and they lived in Henryetta until 1975 when Bob was transferred to Marshall, MN, where he continued to work for PPG. Katherine was very active in the church at St. Michaels. She was Parish Secretary for many years, involved with the Ladies Auxiliary and sang at many funerals with her childhood friend, Virginia Crawford. Katherine was also always involved with her children. That was her career and she did it with grace, tenderness and endless love. Her children and grandchildren were a joy to her and she loved them with her whole heart. All of her children’s friends remember Katherine has always having an open door and welcomed them into her home. Although we mourn the loss of our beloved Mother, we are comforted in knowing that she is at peace and at rest in her eternal home.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Alexandria Yarmoski, her husband Robert and a brother Frank.

Katherine is survived by her son Mark (Kathy) Steele, grandchildren Kelly, Kate Friedl (Ryan), and Paul all of Broken Arrow, OK; son Rick (Brenda) of Kingwood, Texas; son Scott (Anne), grandson Aaron of Sioux Falls, SD; and daughter Robin (Dave) Dreyer, grandchildren Lindsay and Kyle of Maple Grove, MN.
