Earth Day Opportunities in the Three Rivers Park District
The week of April 21-28, 2013 provides a variety of opportunities to celebrate and help out the Earth.

Why go: Check out pond creatures outdoors, visit the nature center, view birds at the feeders and meet captive raptors.

When: Classes April 22, 23 and 25, 2013.
Where: Elm Creek Park Reserve and Fish Lake Park Reserve, Maple Grove
Why go: For ages 4 and 5.
Cost: Learn about recycling, pick up litter on a hike, and design a recycled art project. Have a organic snack and listen to an Earth Day story.

When: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013
Where. Richardson Nature Center, Bloomington.
Why go: Explore volunteer opportunities, meet park district staff and get started as a volunteer in natural resources, recreation, parks and trails, golf, cultural history, art and nature programs. Self-paced format. Arrive and leave at any time. Ages: 16 and older (unless accompanied by an adult).

What: Global Youth Service Day
When: April 26-27, 2013
Where: Crow-Hannan Park Reserve in Hanover, Gale Woods Farm in Minnetrista French Regional Park in Plymouth, The Landing in Shakopee, Hyland Park Reserve in Bloomington, Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park in Brooklyn Park.
Why: Three Rivers is recruiting student volunteers to help clean up the parks, ready trails for summer use, prepare butterfly gardens, clear brush, protect the watershed, and more. Call ahead for preregistration.

Celebrate Mother Earth and Arbor Day
When: 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013
Where: Eastman Nature Center, Elm Creek Park Reserve, Maple Grove
Why go: Learn to lessen your impact on the Earth. Find out about fresh water, recycling and pollution. Play games, make recycled paper and learn tree identification. Drop in anytime.
