Mosquito Treatment Continues in Maple Grove

Selected areas will be treated in the city July 29 and Aug. 3.

The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District will be treating for mosquitoes in the Maple Grove area within the next week.

A daytime application, done by backpack, is scheduled for July 29 around the KOA Campground in Maple Grove. Another backpack application is expected Aug. 3 at 16938 Weaver Lake Road in Maple Grove, which appears to be before an upcoming play by Bunce Backyard Production.

The upcoming treatment is one of several conducted throughout Maple Grove this summer.

Weather conditions could cause treatments to be posted. The treatments are usually scheduled for parks and other public areas.

The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD) provides a variety of services to 2.7 million people living in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, including Maple Grove, according to the MMCD website.

MMCD says their services include:

  • Survey for and control mosquitoes that transmit human diseases,
  • Monitor deer tick populations and provide public education regarding Lyme and other tick-borne diseases,
  • Survey for and control nuisance causing mosquitoes, biting gnats, and mosquitoes that transmit dog heartworm,
  • Public education regarding all aspects of District programs, with emphasis on ways to reduce risk of mosquito and tick-borne diseases.
