Accident on Interstate 494 in Maple Grove Causes Traffic Backup, Closure

A vehicle accident Wednesday on southbound Interstate 494 in Maple Grove, about a half mile from the Bass Lake Road exit. The accident temporarily closed down the roadway while cleanup continued. The accident happened around 9 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, June 1, according to Hennepin County Dispatch.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the accident involved two vehicles resulting in “minor injuries.”  The Star Tribune is reporting that, according to Minnesota Department of Transportation's metro traffic control center, a medical helicopter left with a patient.

As of 10:27 a.m., the MnDOT was reporting eastbound Interstate 494 as closed for three hours due to the accident and there is no access to southbound Interstate 494 from east or west Interstate 94.

Maple Grove Fire Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, MnDOT and other emergency personal are on the scene.
