The Paint Pub Plans Opening in Maple Grove

The new Maple Grove business combines a creative art class, socializing and sipping a beer or a glass of wine.

After several months of planning, Maple Grove residents Jill and Tom Tufano are nearly ready to open their new business – The Paint Pub.

The Paint Pub “is a fun, new concept where people gather to socialize with their friends while they explore their creativity,” Tom said in an email interview with Patch.

The concept essentially provides patrons with an opportunity to take a class during which they will be provided with step-by-step instructions to create the “Featured Painting” of the day, while “enjoying a beer or a glass of wine.” The Paint Pub provides the supplies, participates just show up.

The owners are hoping for a May 2012 opening at their location at 13607 Grove Drive in Maple Grove near and . Two full time and 10 part time employees will run The Paint Pub. 

“We are opening this business because we have seen the popularity first hand of this unique concept,” Tom said. “We have gone to Denver and have taken a few classes and the response was tremendous.”

The Paint Pub, according to Tom, will offer art classes, acrylic painting, daytime and evening classes, private events, fundraisers and youth camps. Food and beverages will include a café with sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, snacks as well as beer, wine and assorted pop. A retail area includes jewelry, scarves, napkins, wine stoppers, coasters, unique gifts, and other modern décor for the home.

“We will also offer open studio time where customers will receive a canvas and have access to the painting materials – but without instruction,” he said. “The fun and enthusiasm people have in exploring their creativity (our mission statement) makes us very excited to open the business in our home community.”

Once open, classes will be 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. There will be a Sunday Family Day class at 2 p.m. with no alcohol served. Regular business hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The price of a class ranges from $30 to $45 for the 2.5 hour class, depending on the event.
