Spire Federal Credit Union Breaks Ground for New Maple Grove Building

The new branch will be located off of Interstate 494 on Black Oaks Lane and open in 2013.

In one of the first steps to constructing a new building, Spire Federal Credit Union broke ground at its new location at 9580 Black Oaks Lane in Maple Grove.

Dan Stoltz, SPIRE’s President and CEO, announced construction has officially begun on new building which was marked with the ground breaking and reception on July 11.

The new branch, located off of Interstate 94 near , will replace the and will feature a modern design and drive-up.

Construction is expected to be completed in early 2013, according to a Spire press release.

“We have been proud to serve the Maple Grove community since 1997,” said Stoltz, “And we plan to be here for many, many more years.”

Plans for the 5,000 square-foot building in December 2011 along with an additional 1,800 square feet for a retail addition.

“The site was originally proposed as a gas station and we have seen a number of different proposals for the site, including another credit union proposal that was almost identical to this one,” Community Development Director Dick Edwards said in his December memo to the council.
