The following is the No. 19 post of 2012.

May 25, 2012 - RedStone American Grill’s request to move into and remodel the existing Boston’s Gourmet Pizza moves forward with the approval of the Maple Grove City Council.

Upon recommendation of the planning commission, the Maple Grove City Council decided to direct the city attorney to draft a resolution approving the PUD Development Stage Plan of Redstone American Grill for the remodeling “of the existing restaurant, add private dining, covered outdoor bar and patios” along with additional features outlined in the application. The council heard the item at its Monday, May 21 meeting.

The plan submitted by RedStone American Grill to the city includes, according to documents provided to the city council:

  • Converting the existing patio area into a 1,113 square foot private dining room and 427 square foot private patio
  • Adding a 2,608 square foot patio area to all patrons
  • Construct a small extended entryway
  • Additional landscaping
  • Modification of exterior elevation

Concerns about the parking in the shared lot with Granite City were brought up Rob Dora, CEO of Granite City, during the May 14 Maple Grove Planning Commission meeting, according to the commission minutes. Doran noted parking stalls “were hard to currently come by” on busy nights and that Redstone American Grill was offering the same number of seats as the current restaurant with an additional 4,000 square feet of outdoor seating.

The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes Manager Wendy Thompson said Arbor Lakes was embracing the Red Stone Grill proposal “as it was a vibrant new restaurant that would draw new clientele” to the location, according to planning commission minutes. Thompson said she would work with businesses and the city if a problem were to arise.

Redstone plans to have its employees park offsite in The Shoppes development, according a May 21 city memo to the council, to open up more spaces.

“Since there are reciprocal parking easements in place, technically there are more than enough spaces out there, some just might not be as close as one would normally find,” city staff wrote in the memo.

Redstone American Grill also has restaurants in Minnetonka and Eden Prairie.
