Photos: WhirlyBall Scheduled for April 22 Opening in Maple Grove

The entertainment facility will also have party rooms and a full sports bar and grill.

After renovating the former Mann Theatre in Maple Grove, WhirlyBall Twin Cities is getting ready to open on Monday, April 22.

WhirlyBall is a game where two teams of five players use a lacrosse stick and a ball to try to score a goal. The catch? Players toss the ball while driving bumper cars, or "WhirlyBugs."

“We're very excited to be opening soon and giving our neighbors the opportunity to see the new facility, grab a bite to eat, and - most importantly - play some WhirlyBall,” owner Nick Lambrecht wrote in an email to Patch. “Though the game sounds odd at first, we really think people will find that it is a great time.”

The new business has two WhirlyBall courts, four private meeting/party rooms and a full sports bar and grill.  A 4,000 square-foot laser tag arena is anticipated to open in June 2013. WhirlyBall is located at 13644 80th Circle North in Maple Grove, near the new Goodwill store off of Interstate 94.

To play WhirlyBall, customers can either reserve a court or walk-in, although the walk-in is subject to availability. To reserve a court, fill out a form on the WhirlyBall Twin Cities website.
