Child, Teen Classes at the Maple Grove Art Center

The Maple Grove Arts Center hosts several art classes for youth in January.

Sculpting With Clay

 In this class children will make a number of different works of art with polymer clay. 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, Jan. 15, 22 and 29. Instructor: Kayla Kaser. Open to ages 8-12. Cost $90.

Adventures in Drawing for Kids

In this four week class children will experiment with various drawing techniques and materials through a variety of exercises intended to introduce line,shape,color and composition. 4:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 5,12,19 and 26 for ages 8-12. Instructor: Christina Hankins. Cost $100.

Color, Stroke,and Style Painting Workshop

This workshop will introduce children to the painting process and exploration of color mixing,composition, texture and line through a variety of activities. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 for ages 8-12/. Instructor: Christina Hankins. Cost $25. 

Adventures in Drawing for Teens

In this five week class, teens will learn the fundamentals of drawing through a variety of exercises and materials. Students will learn the concepts of line,value, composition and texture. 4:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 for ages 12-17. Instructor: Christina Hankins. Cost is $120.

Four Week Painting Workshop for Teens

Does your child love to draw cartoons, super heroes or just doodle? Then come learn painting techniques with artist and illustrator Shane Anderson! This course will focus on taking illustration to the next level with paint. Students will learn composition, color blocking, blending and shading techniques. 4:15 p.m. to 6 p.m Wednesdays for four weeks Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Cost is $120, materials included. Space is limited. 

Classes for Adults

Art and Wellness Workshop

In this workshop the instructor will incorporate movement and writing into the studio art experience. Students will work with a variety of materials while focusing on relaxation and inspiration in a non-threatening environment. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 for ages 18 and up. Instructor: Michele Combs. Cost is $55, students should bring a lunch. A materials list will be provided by the instructor prior to the class
