Update: Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Hennepin County

Dubbed "Winter Storm Q" - Maple Grove could see up to six inches of snow by the end Friday, Feb. 22.

A winter weather advisory has been issued from 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast call for a possible three to six inchces of snow possible between Thursday evening and Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch on Tuesday morning, noting that plowable snow is in the forecast for Maple Grove and Hennepin County. Forecasters say that Winter Storm "Q" will make its way out of the Pacific West and into the Rockies Tuesday, Feb. 19 moving into the Upper Midwest Thursday, Feb. 21 and Friday, Feb. 22.

Weather service experts say that “snowfall amounts exceeding six inches are appearing more likely” on Thursday. It would make it among the top snowfalls of the 2012-2013 winter season.

According to the winter storm watch, “a strong system will bring accumulating snow to the region.”

The National Weather Service also issued Winter Chill Advisory Tuesday which remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 with "dangerous wind chills of 15 to 30 degrees below zero due to the combination of cold temperatures and strong winds."

Snow is forecast begin to fall over southern Minnesota on Thursday morning and will reach central Minnesota in the evening, continuing most of the day Friday.
