Despite Mother Nature’s lack of snow, the Winter Recreation Area at Elm Creek Park Reserve offers some homemade snow activities, such as a tubing hill, snowboarding and skiing.

  • Maple Grove Sports Dome. If your New Years resolution is to lose weight or you’re looking for an indoor activity, you might want to consider checking out the Maple Grove Sports Dome walking track.  According to the walking track calendar on the Maple Grove city website, the walking track is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29; 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31; closed on Sunday, Jan. 1 and reopens from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Monday, Jan. 2. There is no cost to use the walking track. To use the turf during open dome dates 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 and 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 2, there is a cost of $5 cash per person.
