Photos: Eastman Nature Center Grand Re-Opening

The long awaited nature center at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove reopened to the public Sunday, Oct. 14.

After more than a year of construction, the Eastman Nature Center at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove reopened to the public Oct. 14 with a grand opening event.

The center has been out of commission since 2011 while the new Three Rivers Park District nature facility was built. In the interim, classes were spread out nearby parks, such as Fish Lake Regional Park.

Some of the highlights of the new 13,000 square-foot building, according to the Three Rivers Park District website, include:

  • Quiet reading and observation rooms
  • Larger classrooms
  • Larger exhibit area with wildlife watching
  • New exhibits
  • Open-air deck
  • Small coffee service
  • Public wi-fi signal
  • After-hours restroom
