Mark the Calendar: 5 Mother's Day Activities in Three Rivers Parks

Registration is required for a few upcoming events on Mother's Day in the west metro Sunday, May 12, 2013.

Mother's Day Brunch

Sunday, May 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., at Lowry Nature Center in Victoria. The all-you-can-eat buffet catered from B's on the River will include ham and sausage egg bake, vegetable egg bake, cheesy hash browns, assorted breakfast pastries and muffins, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and orange juice. Complete the day with a craft, guided walk through flowered woodlands and meadows. Reservations required by phone only; 763-559-6700. Seatings available every halfhour from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. $15/ages 9+; $8/ages 3-8. Children 2 and under free.

Animal Mothers

Sunday, May 12, from 1-3 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. Visit the center’s live animals and hear the stories of their youth. Learn how the salamanders’, toads’, and snakes’ mothers took care of them. in anytime. This program is free and open to all ages.

Mother’s Day in Clay

Sunday, May 12, from 1-4 p.m., at Silverwood Park, St. Anthony. Grab your favorite mom and celebrate Mother’s Day in Clay. Learn basic handbuilding skills and decorating techniques as you and your mom each create a personalized vase for spring flowers. All skills and participants ages 5 and up are welcome in this class. Geocaching for S’mores

Sunday, May 12, from 1-3 p.m., at French Regional Park, Plymouth. Learn the basics of how to use our GPS units before sending you on an adventure in the park to find as many caches as possible. Free Family Fun Day: River Insects Tell a Story

Sunday, May 12, from 1-3 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Minneapolis. Meet and catch some live examples, examine them under a microscope and learn about their stories.  Drop in anytime. This program is free and open to all ages.
