Elm Creek Outdoor Play Area Closes Temporarily for Repairs

The new outdoor, $1.1 million play area in Maple Grove has been closed for repairs. Officials from Three Rivers Park District estimate it will reopen sometime on Friday, Oct. 7.

After in June, the Elm Creek Park Reserve Creative Play Area closed again Monday, Oct. 3 for repairs.

Several items were in need of fixing, according to Three Rivers Media Relations Specialist Tom Knisely including:

  • Cracked rubber surfacing replacement/repair
  • Replacement of some metal railing posts due to “bad grout”
  • Reinstalling the orange roller-ride track after a redesigned and rebuild

There are no additional costs to Three Rivers Park District, according to Knisely, since all of the work is under warranty or on the punch list. The play area is expected to reopen prior to the weekend of Oct. 8, 2011.
