Update: Accident on Southbound I-494 Near Bass Lake Road Slows Thursday Morning Traffic

The accident took more than an hour to clear and reportedly involved a single car where the driver may have had a medical condition.

The scene of the accident was cleared around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

KARE11.com reported the car had left the roadway earlier Thursday morning into a "stand of trees approximately 50 yards off the freeway."

Plymouth Police Captain Jeff Swiatkiewicz told KARE11 it "appeared" the man was having a medical condition when he left the road. CPR was reportedly performed before the man was transported to the hospital.

According to Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske, preliminary information indicates the accident was a "single vehicle crash with injuries, does not appear serious at this time."

Several emergency vehicles remain on the scene, but all lanes have been cleared, according to MnDOT, with the right shoulder blocked.

7:49 a.m. Feb. 21

A morning traffic accident, possibly involving an injury, occurred on southbound Interstate 494 near Bass Lake Road Thursday morning. Initial reports indicate the accident could be medical related, according to StarTribune.com.

The accident is off to the right shoulder of the Plymouth roadway, according to StarTribune.com.

As of 7:45 a.m., emergency responders remained on the scene.

MnDOT traffic cameras showed traffic as backed up to the I-494 and I-694 split in Maple Grove.
