2-4 Inches of Snow Expected in Maple Grove
After a weekend that saw Maple Grove crack the 40-degree mark for the first time in weeks, a front arrives tonight that could bring snow and perhaps wind gusts.
Sure, just when you got the driveway cleaned off, you need to get ready for more snow.
And so it goes in a Minnesota winter, as the National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued a Winter Weather Advisor for the Twin Cities Area, including Maple Grove. The advisory remains in affect from 9 p.m. Monday until 3 p.m. Tuesday.
A band of snow is expected to make its way across West Central and Central Minnesota and push into Wisconsin overnight, dropping one to three inches of snow along the way. But it's the heavy winds expected along with the storm front that will drop temperatures back down below the 20-degree mark and create some tough driving conditions, particularly in rural areas.
The snow will miss the evening commute today, but could linger into Tuesday morning's drive into work, especially with wind gusts of 15 to 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service. That could make open areas slippery after a weekend of thawing.
Drivers are encouraged to take caution, particularly on overpasses and bridges. On-and-off ramps could be dangerous, too, if they get plugged by drifting and blowing snow.
