Maple Grove Golfer Places 2nd at Pebble Beach

Maple Grove’s Parker Hill tied for second on the juniors leader board during the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach that took place Friday through Sunday.

Hill, who was paired with professional golfer Tom Lehman, shot 64 in the first round, a 66 in the second and 70 in the third to finish at -16.

The First Tee of Three Rivers Park district sent Hill to the official Champions Tour event. The 16-year-old was one of 80 other participants from First Tee chapters to participate. The competition was televised internationally on Golf Channel.

He was selected by a national panel of judges who evaluated playing ability and comprehension of the life skills and character education learned through applicants’ involvement with The First Tee.

Hill, a junior at Maple Grove High School, plays on the varsity golf team and has participated with First Tee since he was just 5 years old.
