Fish Lake Park is Back in Action

Also: Get ready to pay more for tubing, and TopLine Federal Credit Union helps students.

Maple Grove residents can once again use Fish Lake Regional Park.

The Three Rivers park reopened Monday after a summer of construction.

The project involves replacement of pavement on the entrance road, parking lots and paved trails in the park. The boat ramp was also replaced.

The boat ramp, boat ramp parking lot, half of the northern parking lot near the picnic area, the dog off leash parking lot and all trails are already open.

Further construction will continue through October. The remainder of the parking lot will open the week of September 23.

There will be delays and partial parking closures while paving is being completed. Use of the boat ramp will continue to require a boat launch pass in the boat launch parking area. Park visitors may use the drop box.

Tubing is getting more expensive: Snow isn’t on the ground yet, but it’s not too soon to start planning for cold-weather recreation. And if you plan on tubing in Elm Creek Park Reserve, expect to pay a few dollars more. The cost of two hours’ tubing is going up from $12 to $15 beginning this winter, the Star Tribune reported. There will also be a new snowmobile trailer parking fee of $5 per day or $35 per season. Click here to see a full list of fee increases.

TopLine Federal Credit Union helps students in need: The Community Emergency Assistance Programs and Keystone Community Services got some help assisting local students during the month of August. Employees and members of Maple Grove-based TopLine Federal Credit Union donated nearly 1,300 items during the credit union’s back-to-school supplies drive. "We are privileged to participate with organizations like CEAP and Keystone in a number of ways, and this is just one example of the exceptional generosity shown by our employees and members by helping families in need send their kids back to school with the much needed supplies for a successful year," a news release quoted Harry Carter, TopLine’s President and CEO.
