Final Weekend Closure of Southbound Highway 169 Begins Aug. 16

Motorists traveling in Maple Grove/Brooklyn Park and Golden Valley/Plymouth will encounter a lane closure and a detour on southbound Highway 169 between 77th Avenue and Highway 55 as crews resurface the roadway. 

At 9 p.m. Friday, August 16, southbound Highway 169 between Hwy 55 in Golden Valley/Plymouth and 77th Avenue in Brooklyn Park/Maple Grove will close. All southbound lanes will re-open by 5 a.m., Monday, August 19.

  • Interstate 94
  • Interstate 394
  • Interstate 494
  • Highway 100  

Prior to this weekend, motorists have experienced seven weekend closures of this segment of the highway. Weather permitting this weekend’s closure will be the last closure, according to MnDOT. 

Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the highway have prolonged the life of the road.

The $12.2 million project includes road resurfacing, installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.
