Locally owned Simonson’s Salon & Spa walked away with the 2012 title “Best Place for Manicure or Pedicure"
The votes have been tallied, and Maple Grove Patch readers have selected Simonson’s Salon & Spa as the best place for a manicure or pedicure in Maple Grove. In our “Readers’ Choice” contest, 110 votes were cast for Maple Grove places for a manicure or pedicure. Simonson’s Salon & Spa came away with 68 votes, or 61 percent of the votes. Nails & Spa came in second followed by Sonny’s Nails.

The new business opened May 9 in Maple Grove.
Nutrishop, a sports nutrition and weight loss store, opened Wednesday, May 9 at The Fountains at Arbor Lakes. The shop, owned by Evan Bosma, is one of 100 locations nationwide. Nutrishop specializes in supplements and programs for weight loss, strength and muscle gain as well as general health. “The trained staff at each location spends quality time with each customer to ensure optimal results,” Bosma said in a press release. Maple Grove proved to be a draw for Bosma and Nutrishop. He said the demographics in the city were “outstanding” and he “fell in love with the city” when he visited. “My passion has always been working out and taking supplements while maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” Bosma said of his decision to bring Nutrishop to …

The natural and organic foods supermarket plans on opening the 34,000 square-foot store in 2013 in the former Ultimate Electronics location.
Whole Foods Market confirmed today in a press release that it is planning on opening a new store in Maple Grove. The 34,000 square-foot store will be located at 12201 Elm Creek Boulevard in Maple Grove, the site former Ultimate Electronics building. The following article was updated May 11, 2012 to include information about the opening date. Construction started on Maple Grove’s first White Castle restaurant started in April. The new business is planning on opening its doors to the public the last week of July or first week of August 2012, according to White Castle representative Leisa Karl. The 2,550 square foot restaurant received approval from the Maple Grove City Council last October to build at Dunkirk Shopping Center. It is located at the corner of Dunkirk Lane and County Road 30 in April 2012. The restaurant is expected to have two-lane drive through and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Located at 13320 Grove Drive in Maple Grove, the former Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant was built on the site in 1989 and has remained vacant for several years. The building is currently up for sale at a listing price of $1.2 million, according to Streeter Companies. The building is 3,500 square feet on an acre of land and located next to Midas. Patch has not received a response to a request for additional information about the KFC property from Streeter Companies. According to Hennepin County property information records, the property is owned by Maple Grove Foods Inc. based in Minneapolis. I'm wondering if we need to rethink our belief that the Minnesota Constitution really is harder to change than state laws. We're seeing constitutional amendments precisely because the proposals couldn't make it through the law-making process.
