Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. Don’t know what to do with your sweetheart this year? Be a little adventurous, try something new. Here is list of some activities you can enjoy this year around Maple Grove and the Twin Cities.
1. Dinner in Maple Grove
Enjoy a special Valentine’s dinner this year with your significant other! With every type of cuisine imaginable, Maple Grove is the perfect location to start off your romantic night. Dinner ideas could include a romantic Irish dinner at Claddagh Irish Pub, a Brazilian steakhouse experience at Rodizio Grill, a Valentine’s dinner and show featuring Elvis at the Lookout Bar & Grill or a meal for two at P.F. Chang’s. Since dining out is a popular activity on Valentine’s Day, be sure you make your reservations early. There’s only 2.5 weeks left so don’t delay.
2. Go to the Movies
Head on over to the AMC in Maple Grove for a movie after dinner. Arriving just in time for Valentine’s Day is author Nicholas Spark’s Safe Haven starring Cobie Smulders, Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel. If a comedy is more your thing, Identity Thief, starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, opens February 8th. Those don’t strike your fancy? Silver Linings Playbook, Les Miserables, The Hobbit and The Impossible are still playing as well.
3. Stay in a Hotel
Get away from it all. Leave the kids with a baby sitter (or grandma), turn off the cell phone/computer, pack up a small suitcase and treat yourselves to a romantic evening away. You don’t have to travel far; the Minneapolis Northwest area (Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park and Maple Grove) has some great Valentine’s Day hotel deals for you to choose from.

4. Comedy Show
If you think the above is too cliché for Valentine’s Day, try taking your significant other to a comedy show. Wil Anderson will be performing at Acme Comedy Co. on February 14th (20/ticket or $40/dinner and show). Dave Landau and Matt McClowry will also be performing on the 14th at the Joke Joint ($15/ticket). If you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day the weekend before, Running Aces Harness Park is having a Valentine’s Day Show on February 8th with comedian Bob Larson ($15/ticket). Again, be sure to make reservations early. Special events tend to sell out.
5. Get Out and About
Shake things up from the ordinary Valentine’s Day routine. Venture out and maybe try something new that still involves a little romance. Ideas could include kart racing at ProKart Indoors (flirting/competing), ice skating at Wells Fargo Winter Skate or the Depot Ice Rink (hand holding), tubing at Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area (hugging) or stroll along a luminary-lit trail that ends at a bonfire at the Eastman Nature Center (cuddling). These ideas give you more reasons to get a little closer.
