The article below was updated May 11, 2012 to include information about the opening date.

Construction started on Maple Grove’s first White Castle restaurant started in April.

The new business is planning on opening its doors to the public the last week of July or first week of August 2012, according to White Castle representative Leisa Karl.

The 2,550 square foot restaurant received approval from the Maple Grove City Council last October to build at Dunkirk Shopping Center. It is located at the corner of Dunkirk Lane and County Road 30 in April 2012.

The restaurant is expected to have two-lane drive through and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An opening date has not yet been announced.

Wow. Only thing we're missing now is a stripper club and we're officially the trashiest suburb in town.

DM, perhaps you need to move to Edina or Minnetonka, where it isn't so "trashy." Sorry to say restaurants don't make a city trashy. People in it do.

Has anyone drove by there recently? Thoughts so far? It's really starting to take shape -- it looks a lot taller than I expected.
