Community members gathered at the Maple Grove Community Center Tuesday the seventh annual Empty Bowls event – a fundraiser for CROSS Food Shelf.

The public was invited to have a meal of soup, bread and coffee and in return, make a donation to support CROSS Food Shelf.  Attendees were encouraged to choose an empty bowl in return for their donation as a reminder of those in the community who go home to empty bowls each day.

Osseo School District students, including those from Osseo Senior and Junior High, community members and many others, made the bowls.

The Crimson Harmony, Crimson String, North View Strings, Brooklyn Junior High and others also provided musical entertainment Tuesday afternoon.

The 2012 Empty Bowls event co-chaired by Pam Hansen and Colleen Hazen and assisted by multiple volunteers.

Was the same soup served all day? When we were there it was chicken noodle.

Thoroughly enjoyed the event again this year. The bowls are a great reminder to pray for those in our area and around the world who don't have enough to eat, as well as to help fill their empty bowls. So many churches and organizations offer opportunities to help feed the hungry. They need food to give and hands to serve.
I get at least one bowl each year to remind me to be as generous to others with my time, my food, and my money as God has been generous to me with His love and forgiveness.
