A collection of achievements and accomplishments of students the Osseo School District 279.

The following information is a selection of student, staff and school highlights as presented during “Points of Pride” at the March District 279 School Board meetings.

  • Each of the district’s three high schools selected one female student to receive the Athena award: Danielle Rudin of , Mikayla Bailey of , and Megan VanHulzen of Park Center. The Athena Award recognizes senior female athletes for excellence in individual or team sports.
  • Four District 279 students were winners in the North Hennepin Community College High School Art exhibition. Collin Daugherty from Osseo, Sasha Alsmeyer from Maple Grove, David Stay from the Osseo Area Learning Center, and Jonathan Ezeokeke from Park Center, all received medals for their winning artwork.
  • The Osseo Senior High yearbook, the Oriole, was selected by Balfour Publishing to be a national sample for sales and journalism training resources. Less than four percent of their books are chosen for this honor, and the Oriole yearbook has been selected for two years in a row.
  • is the recipient of a Tierney Brothers Classroom of the Future Technology grant that will provide several pieces of high-tech equipment.
  • Osseo Senior High business education teacher, Debra Becker, has been nominated to be featured on a website for finance educators as an Innovative Educator for Practical Money Skills.
