Nadia Cakes Cupcake Shop, Custom Cake Studio Opens in Maple Grove
The business, founded by Abby Jimenez, has been on TLC's "Fabulous Cakes" and won the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars.”
New Maple Grove business Nadia Cakes Cupcake Shop, Custom Cake Studio opened its doors on Sunday, July 8.
In what was described as a “soft” opening on the Nadia Cakes Facebook page, a line into the new shop was reportedly steady throughout the day on Sunday.
Located at The Fountains at Arbor Lakes, 11650 Fountains Drive in Maple Grove, Nadia Cakes will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9 and from noon to 5 p.m. July 10-14. Regular business hours start Sunday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The store, which has been on TLC's "Fabulous Cakes" and won the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” earlier this year, will be having their grand opening event on Thursday, July 26 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with $1 cupcakes available (limit one per person) and a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce, according to a press release, which stated additional grand opening information can be found on the Nadia Cakes Facebook page.
Nadia Cakes is a family-run bakery owned by husband and wife duo Carlos and Abby Jimenez. Abby started Nadia Cakes out of her home in Los Angeles in 2007 and expanded into her first award-winning location there in 2009, according to a press release. Wanting to open a second bakery—but not in the competitive Los Angeles market, the Jimenez’ spent five weeks during the summer of 2011 visiting 23 states before selecting Maple Grove, Minn., as their home and the home of their newest Nadia Cakes retail bakery.
Nadia Cakes offers 135 different flavors of cakes and cupcakes. Desserts are made by hand daily on the premises with the fresh ingredients, including Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans, fresh fruit, sweet cream butter, juices and zests, spices, imported chocolates, coconut milk, and more.

Was lucky enough to be there on the first day it was open to the public. Have to say Nadia Cakes is the best thing to happen to Maple Grove in decades. And yes, the cupcakes are wonderful....and the Lava Parfait is a must try!!!

Nadia Cakes is not only an innovative new concept for Maple Grove, the cupcakes are superb as is the variety of them! Adorable little shop as well! Welcome to the neighborhood!

Stopped in with friends to try the famous cupcakes. We purchased a box of four. Although tasty, they certainly were far from special...and absolutely not special enough to command such a high price -- $3 each! Most of the creative menu favors were unavailable. Cupcakes are quite small and decorations are run of the mill. We won't return.

The cupcakes are very good and fresh! Greta to have a specialty bakery shoppe here however my only concern is, I'm not sure IF the area will support the high pricing of the cupcakes and cakes???? I hope they make it!!!! Maybe having days w/cupcake specials, etc.... will help the business thrive with the locals.
