Maple Grove Police Arrest Man For Assaulting Officer

Police were called to a Maple Grove store Friday on the report of a customer creating a disturbance.

A man is facing charges after police say he assaulted a Maple Grove officer on Friday, Dec. 16.

Maple Grove police officers were called to Bed, Bath and Beyond, located on the 7900 block of Wedgewood Lane, around 2 p.m. Friday on a report of a customer disturbance in the store and parking lot. Police located the suspect and began to lead the man to the parking lot. According to a report on wcco.com and confirmed by Maple Grove Police, it was at that time the man “became combative and assaulted a police officer. He was tasered, but began fleeing on foot.”

The man was arrested a short time later.

The police officer had minor injuries and  “did not miss any time from work as a result of the assault," according to Maple Grove Police Capt. Keith Terlinden.

Terlindan said the suspect should be charged today. Additional details will be updated on Maple Grove Patch as they become available.
