Maple Grove Girls Basketball Falls to Wayzata

The 47-37 loss Thursday brings the Crimson girls basketball team to 5-2 for the 2011 season.

A loss to Wayzata High School Dec. 22 brought the Maple Grove Senior High girls varsity basketball team to a 5-2 season. It was the Crimson’s second loss in a row after starting a 5-0 season.

The Crimson lost against the Trojans 47-37 in non-conference play Thursday.

Leading the scoring for Wayzata were seniors Marissa Grossfeld with 22 points and Kayla Timmerman hitting 11 points. Junior guard Angie Davison lead the Crimson with 16 points with senior post Emily Eckberg contributing 10 points.

Maple Grove heads to Hopkins High School to play in the Dick's Sporting Goods Classic on Dec. 28, 29 and 30. The first game on Wednesday, Dec. 28 will start at 6 p.m. against St. Paul Central. A full bracket of the games can be found here.
