Update: New Maple Grove ALDI Grocery Store
ALDI representatives share an estimated opening date for the new grocery store in Maple Grove.
Last fall, the Maple Grove City Council approved plans submitted by ALDI to build a new grocery store in Maple Grove.
Although construction hasn’t started on the building yet, according to Matt Lilla, vice president of the ALDI Faribault Division, the new ALDI store in Maple Grove “is slated to open in Maple Grove in spring of 2013.”
ALDI submitted plans during the summer of 2011 to build the 17,886 square foot store on three acres of land in the northeast quadrant of Maple Grove Parkway and Grove Circle North. Maple Grove Community Development Director Dick Edwards said primary approvals for the project occurred on Sept. 19, 2011. "A building permit has not been issued," he said.
The proposed store will likely share an entryway with Cambria Suites, boast a new 81-stall parking lot and provide a pedestrian crosswalk from the shopping area to the current Maple Grove Parkway trail.
With the announcement of the proposed opening in spring 2013, Maple Grove could see two new grocery stores opening in the city next year. Whole Foods Market announced in May its intent to open mid-2013 in the former Ultimate Electronics building at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes.

White Castle, Big Lots, Aldi, Goodwill, Walmart...That corner is turning into the place that you keep your windows rolled up when you drive through and certainly don't shop near there after dark.

Hilarious! If you think any corner of Maple Grove is "scary" after dusk you have lead a fearful and sheltered life. It's time to drive the SUV beyond the western suburbs and check out the rest of the USA. You will find that even the "bad" parts of Maple Grove are still in the top 1% of places to live and how great we really have it.

I happen to live near that corner and have never been concerned for my safety. I am excited to see so many new businesses opening. Becker Furniture, Freeziac, Z's Smokin' Bones to name a few. Plus all of the people those businesses are/have hired.
If you are concerned about "that corner", maybe you need to find a new corner.
