Wright-Hennepin customers in the southern Maple Grove area lost power for about an hour Wednesday morning due to a squirrel. Power was restored about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Approximately 1,800 Wright-Hennepin customers in southern Maple Grove area are without power Wednesday morning as crews work fix the outage.
The outage was communicated to Wright-Hennepin customers via Twitter around 9 a.m. Wednesday. Wright-Hennepin communications specialist Lindsay Scherer said crews were immediately dispatched to the area. According to Scherer, it was determined a "squirrel entered and damaged our equipment."
Wright-Hennepin is estimating power to be restored to the impacted area around 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6.
Schools in the area were also impacted by the outage. According to the Osseo School District Facebook page, Oak View Elementary and Maple Grove Junior High were left temporarily without power. "Our staff are helping with any operations problem solving at the affected buildings, and we anticipate that the school day will continue as planned at both sites," District 279 told community members on Facebook.
