County Road 81 Accident in Maple Grove Injures Two

The Thursday morning accident near County Road 81 and Elm Creek Boulevard in Maple Grove closed a portion of roadway for several hours.

A morning accident on southbound County Road 81 near the intersection of Elm Creek Boulevard sent two men to the hospital Thursday morning, according to Maple Grove Police. The incident happened approximately 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16.

The accident involved two vehicles – a pickup truck and semi-truck, according to Maple Grove Police Sergeant Jeff Garland. The driver and the passenger in the pickup were transported to the hospital due to injuries.

The status of the two injured is unknown by Patch at this time.

As a result of the accident, a portion of County Road 81 in Maple Grove was closed during the morning commute. Garland indicated it was reopened about 9:45 a.m.

Investigation continues by law enforcement into the incident. Patch will update if more information becomes available.

In an unrelated incident, law enforcement responded to another accident Thursday morning. An accident on Highway 494 and Bass Lake Road happened during the morning commute as well.  A vehicle had hit the left median near the Bass Lake Road exit, according to Minnesota State Patrol Lieutenant Eric Roeske.

“As traffic stopped a semi in the right lane tried to stop but couldn’t before striking a vehicle on the right and pushed that vehicle into the ditch,” Roeske wrote in an email to Patch.  No injuries were reported.
