Brief: Snowshoeing in Three Rivers Park District

Eagle Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove/Plymouth and French Regional Park in Plymouth offer snowshoeing classes. 

Snowshoe Basics: Intro to Snowshoeing

• 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at Eagle Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove/Plymouth. Staff from REI will conduct a formal “basics of snowshoeing” presentation on the hour at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. to teach the fundamentals of snowshoeing and answer questions. Different styles of snowshoes will be available to observe and compare. Then try out a pair of snowshoes on a guided hike (weather permitting). Meet at the Golfview pavilion. Equipment provided. Snowshoes available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost is $5. This program is open to ages 5 and older. 

Beginner Snowshoeing

• 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at French Regional Park in Plymouth. Learn the story behind snowshoes and why each region developed a unique design. Strap on a pair for a guided hike through the woods. Search for animal tracks and practice your technique. Equipment provided. Cost is $5 and  reservations are required.
