The annual Maple Grove Farmers Market is home to a variety of vendors each summer and fall.

It is the first year at the market for Beyond the Bar Bakery, which is owned by Jennifer Sullivan and Julie Jevne.

The Osseo based business offers “one bite” cake bits, cookies and bars for visitors to the market.

“I have thought about doing it for a few years now and finally am doing it,” Sullivan said of the decision to become a vendor at the market. “I just want to bring delicious treats to everyone.”

The “one bite” cakes are the specialty of Beyond the Bar Bakery. One bite cakes are balls of cake and frosting dipped in chocolate and come in up to 10 different varieties such as vanilla, double chocolate, strawberry, red velvet, chocolate peanut butter, carrot cake and more.

“I think they are very unique and something hopefully not found everywhere,” Sullivan said.

Beyond the Bar Bakery is relatively new to the area. According to the business website, the “one bite” cakes first started in Sullivan’s kitchen when she them for her husband’s birthday. Word and interest in the treats spread, resulting in Beyond the Bar Bakery officially opening Feb. 1, 2012 along with her mother Julie.

The price for the Beyond the Bar Bakery treats range from $2 to $15. Sullivan says each week a certain amount of inventory can be brought to the market each week, but the business is “happy to take orders.”

The Maple Grove Farmers Market is open 3-7 p.m. Thursdays June through September and 3-6 p.m. in October in the Maple Grove Community Center parking lot.
