A"T2T" Message for Maple Grove Parents, Teens

Pink signs throughout the northwest suburbs are part of a campaign to keep students safe during prom and graduation season.

Bright pink signs with “T2T” on them have been popping up across Maple Grove and other northwest suburbs.

It’s all part of an effort during prom season, which focuses on preventing underage drinking and drug use.

The initiative, led by a North Memorial program called Partnership for Change, took to school Monday.

For the past four weeks, a new T2T message has been reveled through the campaign’s social media outlets:  Time 2 Think, Time 2 Teach, Talk to Teens and Teen 2 Teen.

The fifth and final message will be revealed this week before Maple Grove’s prom Saturday, April 28.

“We have implemented the campaign for the first time in northwest Hennepin County,” said LeeAnn Mortensen, Partnership for Change Coordinator in a press release. “The campaign is an important reminder during the upcoming prom and graduation seasons to keep students safe.”

Over the past several weeks members of the T2T campaign have been spreading their message throughout the community through lawn signs, flyers, website and social media directly to students at Maple Grove, Osseo and Park Center Senior High schools. According to Mortensen, approximately 200 lawn signs have been distributed.

“Yard signs have popped up all over the community, including in residents’ yards....” said Mortensen. “The campaign is really gaining momentum.”

Mortensen added the overall goal of Partnership for Change is to help mobilize parents, youth and community leaders to take a stand against drug and alcohol use in northwest Hennepin County.

“In the end we hope to protect the health of the families in our communities and ultimately save lives,” she said.
