Maple Grove Student to Tour with Minnesota State University Moorhead Concert Choir

Concert Choir Tours Minnesota in March

Erik Hagfors, Maple Grove, will tour Minnesota with the Minnesota State University Moorhead Concert Choir in March. Hagfors is a music performance major at MSUM and a member of the choir.

The group’s four-city tour begins March 8 in Hutchinson and includes workshops and performances in St. Paul, Rosemount, Bemidji and Crookston.  The choir is led by Daniel A. Mahraun, director of choral activities in the Music Department at MSUM. All performances feature Celebrations, a cantata by 20th-century American composer Vincent Persichetti.  The cantata consists of settings of nine texts by Walt Whitman.  The performance also includes classical and folk music from the Middle Ages to today.

The itinerary for the tour is: March 8, 7:30 p.m., Vineyard United Methodist Church, Hutchinson; March 9, 7:30 p.m., Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, St. Paul; March 10, 8:15and 10:45 a.m. services at Gloria Dei, St. Paul; March 11, morning workshop at Rosemount High School and a 7:30 p.m. concert at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bemidji; March 12, 7:30 p.m. concert at Kiehle Auditorium on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus.

All performances are free (free-will offerings accepted) and open to the public.
