During the 2011-2012 school year, Basswood Elementary students, families and staff volunteered to make items for several local charities as part of the newly launched Basswood Gives Back service project.

Volunteers collected books and made bookmarks for the United Way, packed snacks for YMCA camps, tied fleece blankets for the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery and made get well cards for the Minneapolis Children's Hospital.

The effort is a joint project between the Basswood PTO and the Basswood Student Council.
